From the Field to the Cup

Tea is not just tea; there is an important distinction between teas containing tea leaves and tea-like infusions, also called  herbal and fruit teas. Black tea or green tea is brewed from the leaves of the tea plant, which is actually a tree. The botanical name of tea is camellia sinensis with the two subspecies var. sinensis (China tea) and var. assamica (Assam tea).                                                                                                                                                                      Unlike 'real' tea, infusions are made from flowers, herbs, fruits and spices. They are packaged and brewed like real tea and offer a wide variety of flavours and aromas.
